Here’s a question I received last week:
“Hi Scott, I’d like to get inactive customers on my database not only
actively ordering again, but referring their friends and neighbours as
well.
There are three things holding me back…
How do I frame the message?
How do I deliver the message? (email, phone, letter?) And once that’s all sorted, how do I set aside the time to actually do it?
Now this is a hidden opportunity available to everyone – and probably the
easiest source of profits you can tap into – so I thought I’d take a moment
to share my thoughts with you…
ANSWER: One of the greatest source of profits lying in your business is the
inactive customer. The guy or gal who bought something off you ages ago,
but for whatever reason hasn’t come back.
Think about it: it’s widely known that it’s 5 times easier to get an
existing customer to purchase again, than it is to get a new customer.
Yet as soon as we get someone to buy, we tend to forget about them.
I’ve literally put thousands of dollars in my clients’ pockets using this
strategy, including a jeweller in New Zealand who got a 30% response rate…
and a large vitamin company in the U.S. that stood to make hundreds of
thousands of dollars with this small tweak.
To see what this strategy could do for you, I want you to write down a
number. That number is how many customers you have sold to in the past, but
haven’t purchased from you in the past 6 months.
Ok, have you done it?
Good.
So for arguments sake, let’s say it’s 800 customers.
What do you think would happen if you sent them a letter apologising for
not being in touch with them for awhile… that you let them down… and that
you’d like to give them some sort of special gift to get them back in the
store?
Do you think you can get some of them to respond?
Ok, let’s say 5% of them responded… which is a viable number for this sort
of promotion to existing customers. (Double digit responses are not
uncommon, which is extremely unusual in cold mailings. It makes a big
difference when you send to this kind of list.)
That’s 40 customers coming back.
Ok, now if they did come back and purchase from you… how much would you
expect them to spend?
For this example, let’s say $150.
40 x $150 = $6,000.00.
So there you have it…
An easy way to put $6,000.00 in your pocket with one letter.
There are lots of little hidden assets like this hiding within your
business.
And once you have the template and right contacts, you could get all this
done in just a few hours.
The problem is rarely not enough time.
It’s not knowing what to do.
The good news is I’m going to walk you through how to do everything to tap
into these hidden profit opportunities when I launch my “More Customers on
a Shoestring” 12 week coaching program next week.
You’ll get all the templates, the structure and
everything you need to get results like this
In the meantime, let me know your thoughts on this…
Do you think it’s possible to get your existing customers to come back in
your particular business?
What’s stopped you from doing it until now?
Why do you think they didn’t come back in the first place?
How successful would your business be if you never lost a customer – if you
offered such an incredible product or service that your customers felt
compelled to come back again and again and again?
I’d love to get your thoughts.
All for now,
Scott Bywater
